Born in Bremen, Germany, Wolfgang Berg studied macroeconomics in Freiburg, Germany, and graduated with a business administration degree from the University of Munich, Germany. His hobbies are sailing, scuba diving, and mountain climbing. He has also been, and still is, a nationally and world-ranked senior tennis player. He has climbed and skied all over the Alps. At age 80, he sailed solo 2,200 miles and did a rock climb of five hours. At age 90 he is still hiking and playing tennis tournaments. He has retired from his company in electronics and sports optics. His work led him to countries all over Europe, North and South America, and Japan. On his voyages to countries and distant islands he studied the people and their cultures and wrote about human life, history, politics, and adventures.
